Did you know Avian Influenza (H5N1) primarily affects birds, but cats and dogs can also contract it? Cats are especially sensitive.
Ways To Protect Your Pets from H5N1:
1) Avoid Raw Foods
Don't feed your pets raw or undercooked meat or unpasteurized dairy products.
2) Keep Pets Indoors
Cats should stay indoors and away from wild birds, poultry, and livestock.
3) Practice Good Hygiene
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling animals, especially before touching your face or eyes.
4) Change Clothes & Shoes
After contact with sick or deceased animals, change clothes, clean shoes, and wash exposed skin before interacting with your pet.
5) Watch for Unusual Behavior
If your pet exhibits strange behavior, such as circling or aggression, contact us immediately.
6) Consider Vaccination
Vaccinate your pet against the seasonal flu to lower the risk of concurrent infections with bird and human flu viruses.
7) Stay informed and keep your pets safe!
